CCIM Indiana News, March 2021
Like diamonds in the rough, opportunities arise from times of great uncertainty. The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted many industries including commercial real estate, but every day there is a clearer picture of what lies ahead for our industry. Though this uncertainty will certainly cause pivots to many who are active practitioners, the ones that will truly succeed are those that adapt and use the crisis as a stepping stone to elevate their career and better serve their clients for years to come.
Here at the Indiana CCIM Chapter, we are committed to providing the next level and most current education, resources, and support to maximize CCIMs' return on investment in receiving their pin. With our upcoming and very popular capital markets and development panels, as well as lease buyout and corporate services education courses, we have a wide variety of content coming your way this year.
Along with our scheduled chapter events, we are also excited to announce that Indianapolis will be hosting the CCIM comprehensive exam on May 14 for the Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa chapters as part of Region 7. This is part of an extra safety precaution that the CCIM Institute is taking with traveling and moving the New Orleans National event to a hybrid format. CCIM designees can now be assured that their exam will be set and scheduled in a streamlined process. Our chapter will have several candidates taking the exam that day along with those from surrounding states, and we wish them the best of luck. Candidate who pass the exam will be recognized at our next live event.
All of us at the Indiana CCIM chapter are excited about our format and how it advances our content delivery strategy and overall experience to our chapter members. Furthermore, as we start transitioning into more in person events, be assured that our content will continue at the pace it has been as we continue to be committed to bringing you, the chapter member, the edge on the competition.

What is your why?
We're asking CCIM candidates why they've decided to invest in their career by pursuing their CCIM designation. This month we talked to Teresa Harwood, Commercial Director/ Real Estate Broker at KW Commercial, about her why. Here's what she said:
"I decided to pursue my CCIM because I had no formal training in Commercial Real Estate. I had followed an odd path into the Commercial Real Estate business, first as an investor and then working under others who had business savvy but limited formal training. It's been eye-opening as I have worked my way through the CCIM courses, to find gaps in my knowledge and to understand the connections between concepts that I did know but didn't truly understand. Pursuing my CCIM has also given me the confidence to share this learning with my clients. I look forward to earning my designation in May 2021!"
If you are a CCIM candidate, or you're considering becoming a candidate, we're here to help. Our Candidate Guidance Chairperson Deb Olinger can answer questions and help direct you to resources. Any candidate with questions may contact her directly at [email protected].
