As the newly installed CCIM Indiana Chapter President, I want to wish everyone a happy New Year and best wishes to your businesses going forward. Last year was a year that no one was expecting or could possibly plan for. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the world and caused a major hit to the global economy which blind-sided many in Commercial Real Estate. We also had an eventful year on the political and social scale which, coupled with mandatory quarantine across the nation, threw many communities into unrest, demonstrations, and protests.
Though 2020 has presented its challenges to our industry, 2021 brings a new year filled with possibilities to prosper, hopefulness for a recovering economy, and an effective vaccine to help get business back to a pre-COVID state.
To meet that 2021 hopefulness, the CCIM Indiana Chapter has a strong and robust program slate discussing various issues in Commercial Real Estate today. Topics for these events include tax forecast, market analysis, legal challenges, development, corporate services, capital markets, and growing your practice. I encourage all designees, candidates, and members to join us for these events, so you can be prepared to better serve your clients and grow your real estate business going forward. These program will provide you with leading industry knowledge to set you apart from other commercial agents.
As a CCIM, one of our core responsibilities is advisory to our clients. This is even more paramount during economic turmoil and recoveries. Having the CCIM designation next to your name shows your client that you have the industry leading knowledge to help guide them in their decision-making process and that you have their best interest at heart. The CCIM designation sets us apart from others in our field that might try to take advantage of clients and unfortunately, can give all of us a negative connotation. We are responsible for maintaining that standard of excellence that the CCIM pin has conveyed since 1991 and carrying it forward to encourage others to set the goal of pursuing the Pin and what it offers them.
As we run toward our goals in this new year, we also need to remember the challenges that we faced in the last year and previous years so that we can better ourselves, our communities, and our businesses. We must look forward with hope, tenacity, and integrity; but also with the knowledge that we cannot perfectly predict the future and must prepare of any and every scenario. We are the people that those looking to buy, sell, or invest come to when they are unsure of what the future holds.
I look forward to seeing all of you at the CCIM 2021 events so that we can, together, go out into the community and help guide them towards that brighter future.
